GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a 12 month full time exempt position.
The Extended Learning Coordinator builds consistent and ongoing learning experiences for students and teachers to grow their comfort and confidence in STEAM. The Coordinator’s time is split as follows:
Extended Learning Coordination & Supervision -– 75%
Supplies and Equipment Oversight -- 25%
DUTIES
Extended Learning Coordination & Supervision
- Coordinate with the Director of IDEA Space KC and Executive Director of Summer/Extended Care on summer, after-school and weekend STEAM programming.
- Supervise contract teachers and teaching assistants for regular evening classes and periodic weekend courses.
- Act as a liaison with facilities to ensure building safety.
Supplies and Equipment Oversight
- Assist in providing regular maintenance and update of equipment including:
- 3D Printers (8)
- Laser Cutter (1)
- Sewing machines (8)
- Tech kits (Robotics, Micro:bit, MakeyMakey, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
- Order, track and replenish all consumable supplies related to Extended Learning at IDEA Space.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in education or relevant STEAM teaching experience. Elementary education experience preferred.
- Ability to work non-traditional school hours to supervise after school programming.
- Occasional weekend commitments.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
- Respect and appreciation for the needs and potential of diverse learners from a variety of backgrounds.
- Student centered mindset.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with K-6 learners, co-workers, and community teachers.
