Lower School and Middle School Physical Education

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Barstow School of Kansas City, Missouri is seeking an energetic and innovative individual for a physical education position working with both lower school and middle school students. Reporting to the Director of Middle & Upper School, this faculty member teaches daily physical education coursework to lower school students, while teaching middle school students three times weekly. A successful applicant will have prior physical education experience and the ability to work collaboratively with students and the other physical education faculty members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and execute daily lessons for lower school and middle school physical education students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and school community members through both written and spoken communication.
  • Manage grading and assignments for various groups of students in each physical education class.
  • Be a passionate supporter of Barstow’s mission of symmetrical development of mind, body and character, championing physical education and Barstow athletics.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & NECESSARY SKILLS
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
  • Significant experience teaching physical education to elementary and middle school aged students, preferably in an independent school setting.
  • A bachelor's degree in physical education or education, preferably a masters degree.
  • Comfort using technology devices and web systems to inform instruction and perform job duties.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to express themselves effectively  to community members.
  • Excitement to collaborate with other physical education faculty in planning and overseeing daily physical education activities.
