Exemplary teachers are Barstow’s greatest asset. They should exhibit pride in their profession and competency in their subject matter. In all aspects of life, teachers should be conscious of their position as role models for students.
Teachers should combine a caring and understanding attitude with consistency, fairness, and creativity. Ever conscious of the child’s self-esteem, they should be generous with praise and demonstrate an awareness of the developmental stages of their students, thus fostering mutual respect.
Teachers should be aware of current technology and promote student use of library resources, realizing that these play an integral part in instruction.
The Barstow School purports to be a place of learning for the entire school community. Acknowledging that education is an on-going process in the pursuit of excellence, the teacher should recognize that assessment is an invaluable tool in this endeavor.
