2022 Health & Safety Procedures

The Barstow School campus is mask-optional. We encourage campers to wash their hands frequently. Our building is cleaned and sanitized daily. Please review the Summer 2022 COVID-19 protocols and procedures.

2022 Overview of General Protocols

  • Barstow is a mask-optional campus.
  • If your child or someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19 during their camp session, please inform the Summer at Barstow Director.
  • A mask requirement will be reinstated if the COVID positivity rate in our building rises above 3%. In that case, the mask requirement will remain in place for 14 days and until the percentage of cases drops to less than 3%.
  • If an unvaccinated individual in your household has been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, please notify the director. Based on circumstances, you may be asked to keep your child home.
  • Please review this chart for guidance on quarantine and isolation after exposure to COVID-19 or vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.
  • Cleaning protocols will remain in place.
  • Campus is zoned for preschool-kindergarten, grades 1-3, and grades 4-8 to occupy separate areas of the school.
  • Campus will be cleaned and sanitized nightly.
  • Field trips will proceed as planned.
  • Every student must bring a backpack, a cold lunch with a cold pack and a water bottle. Microwave or refrigeration will not be provided.

Arrival

  • Use specific entrances for preschool-kindergarten, grades 1-3 and grades 4-8 during curbside dropoff.
  • Student drop-off map will be emailed to families.
  • Students will be accompanied by teachers or teacher’s assistants (TAs) to their camps once inside the building.

Dismissal (Noon and 3:30)

  • Preschool-kindergarten curbside pickup is located in back of the building in parking lot D.
  • Grades 1-8 parents park and walk to pick up campers from middle school soccer field.
  • Camps will be organized alphabetically with signage. Refer to weekly email for pickup map.
  • In the event of inclement weather, dismissal process will be indoors.

Lunch/Snacks

  • Lunch and snacks will not be provided by Summer at Barstow. All food must be brought from home. Refrigeration and microwaves will not be available.

Transition from AM to PM Camps (11:55 a.m.)

  • Campers will be walked in groups of 2-3 from AM camps to PM camps by TAs; teachers remain in classrooms.
  • Teachers will have access to rosters with PM camp information for each student.
  • Students will eat lunch in their PM camp classroom.

Field Trips

  • Subject to change based on scheduled destination’s adherence to social distancing guidelines.
  • Please monitor email for most up-to-date information regarding field trip camps.
