College Counseling

Finding the Right Fit

The college search and application process is an integral part of the Barstow experience. Our personalized program — built on relationships with students, parents and college representatives — yields impressive results. During the last three years, more than 80% of Barstow seniors were accepted to their first or second choice school.
College Counseling at Barstow incorporates exploration, selection, application and transition to college life. During a four-year planning timeline, the counselors maintain frequent contact with each student to learn their strengths and interests. They assist students with course selection, test preparation, construction of a well-balanced college list, mock interviews and resume preparation — and are always available to answer students' and parents' questions.

“At other schools, you start meeting with college counselors during junior year. That’s not how we do it here. We provide guidance and answer questions every step of the way.”

“Mr. Hill got to know me and my strengths and interests. He developed a list of schools just for me. Going [to St. Lawrence University] is the best decision so far of my life.”
