The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 14. Please review the information your family needs for orientation and back-to-school events to ensure a smooth transition into the new year.

    School Pictures

    • Senior formal pictures: Tuesday, Aug. 12, 8 a.m.-noon, Varsity Gym. This picture is used in the yearbook, class composite and commencement program.
    • Grade 6-11 school pictures: Tuesday, Aug 12, 1-4 p.m., Varsity Gym.
    • Preschool prep-grade 5 school pictures: Friday, Aug. 22.

    Extended Care

    Extended Care for students in preschool-grade 8 is available beginning Thursday, Aug. 14. Students may attend on a drop-in basis or parent may sign an Extended Care contract.
    • AM Care is offered Monday-Friday, 7-8 a.m.
    • PM Care is offered Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.

    Getting Started

    Annual online student information forms are available through MyBarstow, and must be submitted prior to the first day of school. Homeroom teacher information or schedules may be withheld until all required forms are on file.

    • MyBarstow Accounts

      MyBarstow is the school’s communication and education management portal.

      For Parents/Guardians: Access MyBarstow using the link in the menu bar at the top right of our website. Your username is your email address. Select "Sign In With Google" or "Sign In With Apple" and use your email credentials to complete the single sign-on process. MyBarstow accounts are linked to email accounts with BlackbaudID.

      For emails that are not associated with Google or Apple, use your email address and the password you chose when you set up your account. 

      You must set up a MyBarstow account to access and complete student information forms that are required to attend school. If you have a problem, contact our IT department for assistance. 

      For Students: Students in preschool-grade 5 do not log in to MyBarstow or receive email addresses. Students in grades 6-12 will receive Barstow emails and MyBarstow login information at a technology training this summer.
    • Student Information Forms

      Several forms are due before the first day of school. You will receive and submit an annual profile update, emergency contact form and others through myBarstow. Homeroom teacher information or schedules may be withheld until all required forms are on file.

    • Health Forms

      Forms that require a physician's signature must be downloaded and returned to the health office.

      New students and those entering preschool, kindergarten, grade 6 and grade 9 must submit a new physical exam form that occurred within the calendar year and is completed and signed by a non-parent healthcare provider.

    • Athletics Forms

      Barstow is a member of the Missouri State High School Athletic Association (MSHSAA). Middle & upper school students who participate in athletics must submit MSHSAA Pre-Participation forms before practicing with any team. Create a student-athlete profile through PRIVIT and upload required documents before the first day of practice.

    Technology

    Reliable access to technology and readily available assistance is an important part of ensuring student success at Barstow. Our technology team helps students and families with initial device set-up and provides ongoing support.

    • Lower School

      • Device specifications: school-owned iPad for every student (Aug-May).
      • Parent action required: accept & electronically sign lower school iPad agreement form during first week of school.
      • All iPads must be returned to the technology department one week prior to the last day of school.
    • Middle School

    • Upper School

      • Device requirements: 
        •  Windows laptop, plus AirParrot for Windows ($18 charged to student account)
        • MacBook laptop (AirParrot not required)
      • Other requirements:
        • 8 GB memory minimum
        • Increased processor/memory requirements only necessary for students planning to use Adobe products. 
        • Adobe products required and supplied by Barstow for BTVN, yearbook and photography classes.
      • Parent action required:
        • Purchase device.
        • Training for new students. After Aug. 6, contact the Technology Department.

    • Campus Traffic

      The Barstow School has a large campus for children from preschool through grade 12. This wide variety of grade levels along combined with extended care after-school requires unique traffic guidelines.

      • Drive with caution while on campus adhering to posted speed limits and traffic-related signage.
      • Pay close attention to pedestrians.
      • The main circle drive and soon-to-open middle school circle drive are for immediate drop-off and pick-up of students. 
      •  Double parking for entering or exiting vehicles in the circle drive is prohibited.
      • Do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in the circle drives.
      • Use caution when driving through, parking and exiting the circle drives.
      • Follow directions of Barstow personnel assisting with the flow of traffic.
    • Parent Parking

      Parents can park in Lot C and Lot D to enter the school. Additional parking will be available at the middle school entrance when the second driveway opens.

      • Circle Drives — No parking. Drop off and pick up only.
      • Lot A — Faculty parking. Handicap accessible spaces available.
      • Lot B — Student and faculty parking.
      • Lot CVisitor and faculty parking. Handicap accessible spaces available.
      • Lot DVisitor and faculty parking (behind lower school). Handicap accessible spaces available.
      • Lot E — Faculty and overflow parking (by athletic fields).
    • Student Parking

      Students must park in the assigned lot only (Lot B) and car doors should be locked at all times. Student cars may not be parked in the front circle, in the visitor parking, or in faculty/staff parking areas.

      • Circle Drives — No parking. Drop off and pick up only.
      • Lot A — Faculty parking. Handicap accessible spaces available.
      • Lot B — Student and faculty parking.
      • Lot C — Visitor and faculty parking. Handicap accessible spaces available.
      • Lot D — Visitor and faculty parking (behind lower school). Handicap accessible spaces available.
      • Lot E — Faculty and overflow parking (by athletic fields).
    • Building & Grounds

      Situated on the east side of State Line Road, the Barstow campus encompasses forty acres of land in south Kansas City, Missouri. Campus includes our main building (classrooms, dining hall, auditorium, gymnasiums and offices), multiple playgrounds, athletic building and fields, orchard, school gardens, ample parking and abundant green space for outdoor learning and activities.
    • Lunch & Snacks

      Preschool prep through prekindergarten students are served lunch each day in the COVE dining area. Kindergarten through grade 12 students select from cafeteria-style options in the servery and eat in the  dining hall, classrooms and outdoors.

      • Early childhood–grade 2 — 11–11:30 a.m.
      • Grades 3–5 — 12:25-1 p.m. 
      • Grades 6–8 — 12:00-12:30 p.m. (Mondays), 11:55 a.m.-12:25 p.m. (Tuesday-Friday)
      • Grades 9–12 — 11:35 a.m.–12:10 p.m.
