In addition, we are always looking for qualified substitutes on whom we may call as needed.

  • EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER

    The Barstow School seeks to hire dynamic teachers for our Early Childhood classrooms.

  • Extended Care Employee

    The Barstow School's before and after school program, Extended Care, is currently looking for high-energy employees for the 2018-2019 school year. If you are an education major, or if you have experience working with children, then you may qualify for an interview. Extended Care if offered from 7:00 - 8:00 am and 2:45 - 6:00 pm and provides care to students preschool through eighth grade. This is a great way for college students to gain experience and make connections for future employment. Employees can expect to work 10 - 18 hours a week with the opportunity for flexible scheduling.   • LOWER SCHOOL STEAM TEACHER

    Exemplary teachers are Barstow’s greatest asset. The Lower School STEAM Candidate must possess enthusiasm and creativity and must exhibit pride in their profession and competency in their subject matter. In all aspects of life, candidates must be conscious of their position as role models for all students.
     
    Successful candidates will combine a caring and understanding attitude with consistency, fairness, and patience. Ever conscious of the child’s self-esteem, they should be generous with praise and demonstrate an awareness of the developmental stages of their students, thus fostering mutual respect. In addition, candidates should:
     
    • have an expansive and expert understanding of STEAM principles, which will engage all students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.
    • have experience teaching in an elementary school setting.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL MATHEMATICS TEACHER

    GENERAL INFORMATION
    The Barstow School is seeking an individual to serve as a middle school mathematics teacher. This position will include teaching all levels of middle school mathematics including 6th grade mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry. Ability to teach high school mathematics would be advantageous. This position also includes serving as an advisor and all other customary middle school duties as assigned.
     
    Ideal candidates will have a strong background in mathematics, a commitment to differentiated instruction and a working knowledge of the use of technology in mathematics instruction.
     
    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
    The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
    • A minimum of a BA or BS degree
    • A minimum of two years middle school teaching experience
    • Strong content area in mathematics
    • A passion and desire to collaborate
    • Experience and/or interest in Project Based Learning
    • A strong rapport with and knowledge of middle school students
    • Integration of technology and STEAM in mathematics instruction

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER

    GENERAL INFORMATION
    The Barstow School is seeking an individual to serve as a middle school history teacher. This position will entail teaching middle school history classes which will include World Geography, US History and Civics and acting as an eighth grade advisor along with other customary middle school duties as assigned.
     
    Using a range of approaches, our goal is for our middle school students to develop historical thinking skills and to understand the challenges that face our local and global communities. We provide an education experience that equips our students with the knowledge and skills to make a difference in the world.
     
     
    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
    The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
    • A minimum of a BA degree
    • A minimum of 2 years teaching experience
    • Strong content knowledge in World Geography and American History
    • Passion for collaboration and incorporating writing across the curriculum
    • Experience in or interest in an interdisciplinary approach and project based learning
    • A strong rapport with and knowledge of middle school students
    • Ability to integrate technology for instruction and assessment
