Barstow has a strong tradition of philanthropy that has been carried forward through our 130 years of history. Each year, our donors include parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty, staff, trustees and friends of the school.
The Annual Fund is the school’s most important fundraising program. Your tax-deductible gift helps make up the difference between tuition revenue and the actual cost of running the school. This is critical because tuition covers about 80% of the cost of educating a child at Barstow. When making your Annual Fund gift, you can direct it to one of our Family of Funds and support an area that is important to you. These funds include arts, athletics, building and grounds (which includes our Barstow Gardens), curriculum, faculty development, financial aid, technology and discretionary.
Planned Gifts are made by donors who want to provide for The Barstow School through a bequest in their will or trust. Planned gifts can provide significant tax benefits for donors and their families as well as help secure the financial future of the school. Donors who inform us that they have named the school as a beneficiary in their will or other planned giving vehicle become members of The Barstow School Heritage Society. Please visit the Planned Giving page of our website where you will find helpful information about estate planning as well as a Gift Illustrator that provides calculations on how you and the school will benefit from specific gifts such as remainder trusts, lead trusts and annuities.
