Tennis Duo Finishes Sixth at State
Lia Adams and Mary Colombo represented Barstow at the MSHSAA Class 3 Individual State Tennis Championship on Friday, Oct. 14, in Springfield.
In the early morning round, the team faced an outstanding team from Park Hill South. In the first set, Mary and Lia broke from a 3-3 tie to reel off three straight for a 6-3 win. Using steady first serves and a strong net game, the girls moved on with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
In the first set, Barstow rolled to a 6-3 win. The girls fell behind 0-4 in the second set but rallied to tie 5-5 before losing 5-7 and losing the tiebreaker 10-8. Mary and Lia become Barstow's first ever Missouri Large Class medalists. Congratulations!
