Tennis Finishes Second At Lee's Summit West Tournament

The Barstow boys tennis team played three complete duals all on Monday to finish second in the LS West Tournament.  
In the first match, the Knights took on the 2021 third-place state winners, Lee's Summit West. They came out with a resounding 9-0 win.  At #1 singles senior captain, Richey King rolled to an 8-1 victory. Freshman, Bobby King finished off his opponent at #2, 8-0.  Sophomore, Sankeerth Gandhari played a methodical game for an 8-5 victory. Junior, George Colombo added a win and some excitement with an 8-7 (7-5) tiebreaker win.  Sophomore, Dylan Markey picked up an 8-4 win at #5 singles and at #6 freshman, Liam Groden dominated with an 8-0 sweep.  

In doubles, Richey and George won 8-6 and Bobby and Sankeerth rolled to an easy 8-1 win.  Finally, in doubles junior, Aaram Salam teamed with freshman Shayan Ahmed for a convincing 8-3 victory.
In the second round, the Knights lost to Pembroke Hill, 3-6. Richey and Bobby King combined for an impressive win at #1, 8-3 against a very strong #1 duo from Pembroke Hill. 

The other victories for the Knights were Richey and Bobby King at # 1 and #2 respectively, with Richey winning 8-4 and Bobby dominating at 8-3. The Knights finished off a long day of tennis with a 9-0 sweep over the Tigers from Lee's Summit.  The Knights swept doubles with 8-0 wins at #1 from George Colombo and Richey King as well as an 8-0 roll at #2 from Bobby King and Sunny Gandhari.  Dylan Markey and Araam Salam dominated at #3 with an 8-1 win.
