Tennis Team Wins District Championship, Heads to State

It's been a huge week for the boys tennis team and individual players. The Knights won the district championship on Wednesday, May 12, capping a week of Individual and Team victories. For the first time since 2015, Knights Tennis will send four to State Tournament.

The tennis team defeated Lincoln Prep 5-0 to advance them to District 13 Team Finals. The Knights swept all three doubles matches 8-0 and moved on to do the same in Singles with Richey King at #1 winning 8-1, Sunil Reiland at #2 with a 8-0 victory and Sankeerth Gandhari taking an 8-0 win, leading to overall win. 

The Knights Tennis team became District Champions on Wednesday, May 12, after defeating St. Michael's 5-0. At #1 Doubles, Richey King and George Colombo played a solid game against St. Michael's #1 team and defeated them 8-0, starting Barstow's strong winning streak. Seniors Sunil Reiland and Matthew Justis played at #2 Doubles and also won 8-0. Playing their best of the season and at #3 Doubles, Sankeerth Gandhari and Aaram Salam rolled to an 8-1 win. In District Singles, George Colombo took a 6-0, 6-1 victory and Dylan Markey finished strong with a 6-0, 6-0 win, leading to the team's overall win. 

For the first time since 2015, The Knights Tennis is sending four individual players to the Missouri State Championships in Springfield. The Knights won both singles slots against Marshall High School and Lafayette County. In singles, Richey King jump started the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win and Sunil Reiland followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. In doubles, Matthew Justis and George Colombo served well to take a 6-1, 6-1 win. Congratulations Knights Tennis!
