Knights Tennis Snag 3 Spots for Individual Sectionals

After a long and successful meet in Excelsior Springs for Individual Districts, the Knights grabbed three spots to move on to Individual Sectionals.

Sunil Reiland, number 3 in singles, upset the number 2 seed to move on to finals 6-1, 6-2. In Sunil's final match he met fellow teammate Richey King. After a tough match, Richey King took the win 6-2, 6-0. 

At number 2 in doubles, Sankeerth Gandhari and Dylan Markey became the first Barstow freshmen to both win a district medal in their freshman year. After a tough first set against the number 2 seed from St. Michael's, the freshmen duo the boys rallied back to win over St. Pius' number 1 team to win third place. 

Also at number 2 in doubles, senior Matthew Justis and sophomore George Colombo lost their first two rounds before tightening up their game against St. Michael's. Justis and Colombo cleaned up at the net and hit solid serves to win the District 13 doubles title, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. 

Individual Singles players Sunil Reiland and Richey King, and Doubles partners Matthew Justis and George Colombo will advance to Sectionals and play the winners of District 14. The tennis team continues a busy week as the Team competition began on Tuesday, May 11.
