Damian Lillard’s otherworldly six-game streak brought his struggling team into playoff contention.
Damian “Dame Dolla” Lillard, who has already been named an All-Star reserve this year, has bumped his scoring to a level that viewers have never seen before. The Portland Trail Blazers star point guard has put the NBA on notice with his career-best numbers that include multiple games over 50 points. Lillard is putting up historic numbers that beat out all-time greats such as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Over his last six games, Lillard has recorded 293 points, 61 assists, 43 rebounds, 7 steals and 49 three-pointers. He is averaging 48.8 points, 10.2 assists and 7.2 rebounds during the streak, becoming the first player in NBA history to average more than 45.0 points and 10.0 assists over a six-game span, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Teammates and players watched in awe as Lillard single-handedly won the Trail Blazers tough games with his ability to put the ball in the net. Portland has not had the greatest of seasons. After losing to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals last year, the reigning Northwest Division champions have played poorly leading into the All-Star break at a dismal 18-26 record. However, Lillard has turned it on for the struggling squad, leading Portland to a 5-1 record over just six games, and brought the team within 1.5 games from the playoffs.

The ridiculous run started with an overtime victory against the Golden State Warriors on January 20, when Lillard exploded for a franchise-record 61 points. And he’s scored at least 47 points five times, including 50 or more three times. The only time Lillard was held below 47 points during a win over the Houston Rockets, he recorded the first triple-double of his career.

Overall, the run Damian Lillard has had over six games has brought his team together as they push for a spot in the Western Conference playoffs. After the All-Star break ends, Lillard will have to keep his shooting touch and bring a playoff berth to the city of Portland.
