Nadal and Djokovic’s 55th head to head match caused tension and hype in the tennis community.
ck the ability he had in his youth to defeat Djokovic. However, he fell just a bit short. The final score of the match was 6-2 7-6 for Djokovic, having played a total of 2 sets with tens of tiresome rallies.

Before the match, Rafael Nadal was skeptical about if he would be able to secure the win in this final due to his recent losing record to Djokovic. Currently, Nadal’s record against Djokovic these past 4 matches have been 0-4, so he needed this game to gain back his winning record. However, he just fell short. Nadal is most famous for playing well on clay courts and because the match took place on a hard court, experts say that Djokovic had the upper hand. Regardless, Nadal has never fallen short of sportsmanship and both players have shown a tremendous amount of respect and support for each other; therefore, the competition still continues.

The 2020 ATP Cup was Nadal’s first game back after a severe leg injury that retired him for 3 months, so he was a little rusty going into this match. Nadal has openly said that he plans to work toward perfecting his game, so tennis fans can see him play as he did in his prime. However, his age plays a significant factor in how well he plays. Because Nadal has been playing for nearly 27 years, his game is slowly deteriorating, and he has had consistent losses in famous tournaments such as the US Open Tournament and the Paris Masters Cup.

Nadal still holds the position as number one in the world and has held the record for 3 separate decades, which no other player has been able to accomplish. Therefore, he is still looking for more competition to improve his game.
