Middle School Students Update Atrium

After more than a year of work, a group of middle school volunteers have almost completed updates to the middle school atrium.
Members of the Ecology Club and the student council, sponsored by Ms. White and Ms. Tillema, cleared out brush and removed old items from the atrium space this semester. They decorated the area with recycled pieces from Barstow's past, including the 1925 sundial from the Cherry Street campus. The sundial was once topped by an armillary, and was central to traditions like the Ring Ceremony.

The space, which students refer to as the Fishbowl, also includes a bench, windscreens, potted plants, landscaping rocks and stained glass birds. Once the project is completed, students will be able to access the Fishbowl during study periods and free time.
