Faculty Member Honored For Global Volunteer Work

Lower school Spanish teacher Dr. Teresa Lorenz-Do has been named Volunteer of the Month for Kiva, a global nonprofit that assists low-income entrepreneurs all over the world through small online loans.
Dr. Lorenz-Do has been volunteering with Kiva for more than three years, during which time she has translated over 920 microloans from Spanish to English. The loans, made by individuals through an online site to entrepreneurs in 81 countries, can be paid back when a small business becomes profitable or the money can be re-invested in a new opportunity.

"I just love to be able to use my skills to give back to the global community,"  Dr. Lorenz-Do said. She was chosen for this honor from more than 400 Kiva volunteers. To learn more about Kiva and to see its impact on lives all over the world, visit Kiva.org.
