FOUR LADY KNIGHTS QUALIFY FOR STATE TOURNAMENT!!

The Lady Knights made Barstow proud on Monday by winning all FOUR of their sectional matches and qualifying for the Missouri State Individual Tournament.  
The girls swept the singles matches with two impressive wins.  Sarena Biria, one of the strongest freshmen Barstow has had, has amassed a 13-2 singles record with a schedule that includes some of MO and KS strongest schools, was impressive again.  Sarena  used a strong baseline game to roll to another  6-0, 6-0 victory over Willow Springs.  
Mary Colombo was out of the gate fast with a 6-3 win, but her opponent, a solid baseline Aurora foreign exchange student from the Netherlands, found her game and pushed to a 5-4 lead.  Trailing 4-5, 0-30, Mary fought back to tie it at 5 all, took a 6-5 lead.  Aurora pushed it to a tiebreaker where Mary served well to seal the deal at 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
In doubles, senior Hope Leathers and Junior Mia Sabapathy seemed to have saved their best doubles for one of the biggest stages.  The ladies who struggled last outing with serve consistency,  put together a solid, targeted service exhibition and followed up with a swarming net game.  Hope ane Mia jumped lost the first game of the first set, but then proceeded to grab 12 of the next 14 games for a 6-2, 6- 1 win.  
 
These wins moves the girls to the Missouri State INDIVIDUAL Tournament at the Cooper Center in Springfiled, MO, October 25, and 26.  
The girls this weekend already secured a trip to Branson, MO for the TEAM sectionals and quarterfinals.  This is a team dual format that that consists of a dual in the morning against Forsyth and the winner competes with the winner of the other sectional in the afternoon for a chance to move on to the STATE FINAL FOUR.   Congratulations girls
