Middle School Supports Community with Candy Grams
The Middle School Pep Council organized a fundraiser during the week of Feb. 9–13, with students selling candy grams for $1 each to benefit local organization Giving the Basics.
Students raised more than $500 through candy gram sales. In the coming weeks, members of the Middle School Pep Council will research Giving the Basics’ most-needed items and create a shopping list based on information from its website.
Pep Council members will then shop for these items during a school-day field trip before delivering the donated items to a Giving the Basics drop-off site. Ms. Carson Ferren, Middle School Dean of Student Services, said students were eager to see the service project through from planning to delivery.
The candy grams were distributed on Friday, Feb. 13 during advisory.
