Chiefs 2020-21 Season Overview

The Chiefs’ 2020-21 NFL season and postseason highlights.

The Chiefs ended the 2020-21 NFL season 14-2 which is a new record for the franchise. This was an even more incredible feat than it would have been due to the fact that the pandemic made practice and games more stressful for both the athletes and coaches.

The pandemic made the NFL take several precautions to ensure player and staff safety. Players and staff were required to get tested twice a day whenever they entered and left the facility. In addition, every athlete's jersey contained a tracking chip in case someone tested positive. If this occurs, the chip will identify all other players/staff members that they have been in contact with that player.

Through the course of the season, the Chiefs had a game record of 14-2 with losses to the Las Vegas Raiders in week 5, and another loss against the Los Angeles Chargers in week 17, in which none of the starting lineup played. This allowed the Chiefs to qualify for the playoffs six consecutive seasons which ties the NFL record.
Following the victory over the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round, Kansas City became the first AFC team to host three consecutive conference championships tying with the Philadelphia Eagles.

After the outstanding regular and postseason, Andy Reid and the Chiefs returned for their third consecutive year to the AFC Championship where they defeated the Buffalo Bills in a score of 38-24, claiming our spot in Super Bowl 55. Unfortunately, the Chiefs endured a crushing defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl and were not able to score a single touchdown against the strong Bucs defense. But this defeat only motivated the team even more and the Chiefs will return stronger than ever next season.
