  • Extended Care Employee

    The Barstow School's before and after school program, Extended Care, is currently looking for high-energy employees for the 2017-2018 school year. If you are an education major, or if you have experience working with children, then you may qualify for an interview. Extended Care if offered from 7:00 - 8:00 am and 2:45 - 6:00 pm and provides care to students preschool through eighth grade. This is a great way for college students to gain experience and make connections for future employment. Employees can expect to work 10 - 18 hours a week with the opportunity for flexible scheduling.   • MIDDLE SCHOOL ENGLISH

    GENERAL INFORMATION
    The Barstow School is seeking an energetic, compassionate and communicative educator for a Middle School English position for the 2018-19 school year. This position will teach English Language Arts to middle school students, and may also include some sections of our writing intensive course, Writer’s Workshop. Candidates should have a strong background in middle school teaching, preferably in an independent school setting, and also possess excellent communication and writing skills. The ideal candidate will be creative and not afraid to infuse their curriculum with technological tools and interdisciplinary subjects.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
    The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in English education, preferably a Master’s degree
    • At least two years teaching Middle School English, preferably in an independent school setting
    • A high degree of comfort using technology to inform instruction
    • Excellent organization and communication skills
    • Expertise in Middle School literature and past experience critiquing Middle School writing

  • School Counselor

    The Barstow School is seeking to hire a School Counselor to provide a full range of counseling services to students grades PS-12. The qualified candidate will:
     
    • Work with students to attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment within the classroom and individually.
    • Provide individual counseling and group sessions to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, and family concerns.
    • Identify students with special needs and make appropriate recommendations and referrals.
    • Implement an effective referral and follow-up process.
    • Work with grade level deans, and Middle and Lower School teachers to organize and implement grade advisee programs.
    • Coordinate the Services for Students with Disabilities for the College Board (AP, PSAT, SAT) and ACT tests.

  • Technology Integration Specialist

    The Barstow School is seeking to hire a Technology Integration Specialist to lead the Academic Technology Team in support of the school’s technology education program for students, faculty and staff.  The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Education or Educational Technology.  Previous experience as a Technology Integration Specialist or Technology Coach is a must.
     
    ​The candidate will be well-organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to cultivate relationships.
     
    Essential job functions will include Faculty Professional Development for PS – 12, serving as the Faculty/IT Services Liaison, and providing student technology ​training and ​support.   ​Other duties include software and App evaluation​ and license management for all divisions.

    The Barstow School is seeking an energetic and accomplished educator for an Upper School History and yearbook position for the 2018-19 school year. This position would teach all ninth graders Ancient World History classes and oversee the school yearbook as the yearbook advisor. Candidates should have a strong background in teaching, preferably in an independent school setting, and possess excellent communication and writing skills. The ideal candidate will also be self-motivated and forward thinking.
