Fall Sports Moved to MSHSAA Alternate Season

Recognizing the safety issues COVID-19 poses for student-athletes, the Missouri State High School Athletic Association has created a fall alternate season. After weeks of consultation with area school administrators, The Barstow School has decided to postpone fall sports until March 2021.

MSHSAA created the alternate season after reviewing the trends of state and county health department recommendations for school sports and activities.
Cross country, girls golf, boys soccer, girls tennis and volleyball seasons are scheduled to begin March 12 and continue through May 1. The alternate season follows winter sports and will allow the regular spring season to continue as scheduled.

We have confirmed with MSHSAA that athletes will be able to participate in both fall and spring seasons concurrently. With many local and private schools cancelling or postponing their fall athletic programs, this decision provides Barstow student-athletes with the opportunity to participate in both a fall and spring season. We know that the concurrent seasons pose a challenge which we are working to address, but the information we have at this time indicates this is the best option to preserve our students' ability to participate in sports and protect their health.
