Three Barstow seniors have been named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. Congratulatons to Ajay Guduputi, Aasim Hawa and Cayden Williams.
These academically talented students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring. Approximately 16,000 seniors nationwide earned the honor.

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the final level of the competition. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain that standing, and about half of those earn the Merit Scholar title.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) serves as an initial screen of program entrants. That test will be administered to Barstow juniors on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 a.m.
