| | Meet Scott Hill
Scott Hill, Director of College Counseling, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, spanning sixteen years, to Barstow families. He began his career at the University of Missouri – Kansas City in the Office of Admissions, recruiting for a variety of programs including pharmacy, Conservatory of Music, Arts & Sciences, engineering and the 6-year Medical Program. His main responsibilities centered on application review and admitting, while also handling the initial eligibility for the Division I Athletics Program. He came to Barstow in the summer of 2000, placing a huge emphasis on the importance of finding the right fit for each student. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling and has presented at both regional and national conferences on the topic of college counseling. He visits approximately 25-30 colleges per year in order to strengthen longstanding relationships, while hosting 85-90 colleges each fall on the Barstow campus.
As Director of College Counseling, Mr. Hill spends a great deal of his time talking to upperclassmen and their parents in an effort to assist them in the college application process. "Each year is a new experience in college counseling. I have the opportunity to work with fresh students who exhibit goals and desires that are different from their predecessors. I work to keep abreast of new programs, application methods, scholarship programs and college profiles.
"I most enjoy assisting students in their journey to the next level and watch them exceed their own expectations." |

 | Barstow's Personalized College Counseling Program
The Barstow School college counseling program is designed to support each phase of the student's college search process: exploration, selection, application, and the transition to college. Our program strives to match students with the college or university that is most suited to their interests and goals. The purpose of college counseling is to help students realize their goals for continued studies while helping them to make a good match. Although the college admission process is often perceived to be highly stressful, our belief is that through education, self-knowledge, and access to our staff’s professional resources, Barstow students can take ownership of the process. This college planning process begins in each student's freshman academic year and will continue through his/her senior year. Our aim is to introduce to the students the terms, guidelines/timelines, nuances, and informational programs at age- and grade-appropriate times. |

Naviance provides students with the framework to direct their own education, establish long and short-term goals, and plan for post secondary success.
