Welcome to Barstow
While an education can be obtained anywhere, it takes a special place to ignite your passion. At The Barstow School we support and challenge all children to be participants, not spectators. Academically, artistically and athletically teachers understand students’ needs and consistently provide them with support that allows them to reach their full potential. At Barstow, no one “slips through the cracks.”
Teaching children the importance of leadership and community service is a mainstay at Barstow. We grow the leader in each child by encouraging students to form and run their own organizations and seek out service learning experiences that match their interests. The class of 2009 included four Eagle Scouts, and two Congressional Gold Medal winners. These service awards are among the most prestigious in the country.
The Barstow School values the visual and performing arts as well. All of our arts teachers are performing artists, and our students receive artistic accolades as well. Barstow’s theatre department has been selected to participate in the 2010 Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, and last spring we received two Blue Star Awards from Starlight Theater for our production of RENT: School Edition.
The athletic program is competitive while simultaneously balancing the importance of affording all athletes an opportunity to participate. Beginning in the sixth grade, we have 41 athletic teams across 12 different sports.
While our website offers a wealth of information about the educational opportunity available at Barstow, nothing can replicate the experience of visiting our 40-acre campus. I would welcome the opportunity to give you a personalized tour.
Sincerely,
Kellye Crockett-Bunch
