The Barstow School receives support through three funding programs. They are three equally important legs of our fundraising stool.
The Annual Fund is the school’s most important fundraising program. Your gift to the Annual Fund helps make up the difference between tuition revenue and the actual cost of running the school. This is critical because tuition covers roughly 85% of the cost of educating a child at Barstow. When making your Annual Fund gift, you can direct it to one of our Family of Funds and support an area that is important to you. These include arts, athletics building and grounds, curriculum, faculty development, financial aid and technology. You may also designate your gift for the school’s discretionary fund. Revenue from the Gala and Auction helps us reach our Annual Fund goal as does the Barstow Knights Golf Classic, which is directed to the Athletic Fund.
Capital Campaigns raise funds to meet renovation, building and endowment needs that the School cannot pay for out of its operating budget. Capital campaign projects are usually completely paid for through charitable contributions. Currently, Barstow is raising capital funds through the Standards HIGH campaign, which will raise $2 million to renovate the Raymond B. White Auditorium and Middle and Upper School classrooms and to build new tennis courts replacing the existing courts now is disrepair.
Planned Gifts are made by donors who want to provide for The Barstow School through a bequest in their will or trust. Planned gifts can provide significant tax benefits for the donors’ families as well as secure the financial future of the school. Donors who inform us that they have named the school as a beneficiary in their will or other planned giving vehicle become members of Barstow’s Heritage Society.
